The Path To Your

REFINANCE

Your Refinance Roadmap

Our experienced team of dedicated Mortgage Advisors are here to help you every step of the way. Allow this guide to assist you through the refinancing process, but please feel free to call your Mortgage Advisor at any time if you have any questions.

1. Financial Goals

When working with your Mortgage Advisor, it’s important to determine how your home fits into your overall financial plan. You will work together with your Mortgage Advisor to clarify your current situation and identify your financial goals and how the right loan program can help you to get there.

2. Collecting Documents

It is likely that it has been a while since you purchased or last refinanced your home, so you will need to start collecting updated financial documents to provide to your Mortgage Advisor before they pull your credit report. This will provide a more clear picture and help to identify any unforeseen errors that may affect your credit score. You can view the list of documents needed here.

3. Crunching the Numbers

There are many factors to consider when weighing the pro’s and con’s of a refiance. There are numerous programs, various rates and terms, closing costs and housing values to consider among other things. Your Mortgage Advisor will help you to determine if this is the right course of action for you.

4. Closing Day

Once you have selected the right program and have decided to move forward, your Mortgage Advisor will work with you right up until the day of closing to keep you informed of what is happening in the process and or if any additional information or documentation is needed.

Best Practices

Our experienced team of Mortgage Advisors have seen it all. In order to avoid potential pitfalls in the refinancing process, please follow these best practices until your refinance has closed.

R

Stay Current

Continue to make timely payments on all existing debt and recurring payments as well as all household services and utilities.

R

Stay Consistent

Continue to use credit and debit cards as normal but avoid making large purchases or large deposits into your bank account (if you must please consult your advisor). Don’t change employment status, apply for new credit, switch banks or co-sign for a loan.

R

Stay Cautious

Consider joining a credit watch program, be wary of requests for personal information and save complete copies of your bank statements and pay stubs.

Stay Connected

Please reach out to your Mortgage Advisor at Stonegate Mortgage with any questions or concerns you may have.

I just wanted to thank you for all of your help during the purchase of our new home. It was a very complicated process and the staff at Stonegate Mortgage was extremely patient and helpful through the entire process. I was not the only person who was impressed; the seller’s agent for Century 21 mentioned that she was so happy with their services that she will be giving his contact information to her future clients.
